A dessert with a story and soul. Charoset may look like mortar, but it tastes like tradition. Sweet, simple, and full of meaning it’s the perfect treat to share at your holiday table or even at work.

Before you mix up the “mortar”
The color and texture of charoset are meant to resemble the mortar that the ancestors of today’s Jewish people used to make bricks during their enslavement in ancient Egypt.
But while charoset may look like mortar, it tastes absolutely divine. You might soon find that out for yourself along with your colleagues. Since charoset is easy to prepare and transport, it’s a perfect treat to bring to work and share with your team.
Ingredients
- 2–3 apples
- 1 cup chopped blanched almonds
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 200 ml (about ¾ cup) sweet red wine
Instructions
- Peel and core the apples, then grate them finely.
- In a bowl, mix the apples with the raisins, almonds, cinnamon, and wine. Let the mixture rest in the fridge to chill and allow the flavors to blend.
